This guide covers the four game modes in Trailz, how each mode works, how scoring is calculated, and what you should know to succeed.
Turf Capture
Objective
Capture as much turf as possible before the match ends.
You can win in three different ways:
- Own the most turf when the timer reaches zero.
- Capture 100% of the arena, leaving no room for opponents.
- Eliminate all opponents by overtaking every bit of their turf.
Capturing Turf
- Leave your existing turf and move through the arena to create a trail.
- Once you return safely to your turf, the enclosed area is instantly captured.
- You can capture neutral ground or enemy turf. Both expand your total turf.
Losing Turf
- Opponents can capture areas you own.
- When your turf is overtaken, your total control decreases.
- Protect key sections to maintain your lead.
Tips for Success
- Reclaiming beats expanding: Capturing enemy turf both strengthens you and weakens your opponent.
- Watch enemy trails: Cutting a trail can Shutdown an opponent and cancel their capture attempt.
- Play the risk curve: Bigger captures require leaving your turf farther - increasing both reward and danger.
- Splitting: Cutting an opponent’s turf into two separate areas removes the smaller section from their total turf.
Shutdown Wars
Objective
Earn as many points as possible before the match ends by performing actions against opponents.
How to Earn Points
- Shutdown – 1 point
Drive over an opponent’s trail before they return to their turf. - Dunk – 1 point
Capture turf successfully around an opponent who is inside their own turf. - Elimination – 5 points
Remove an opponent completely by capturing all their turf.
Streaks
Streaks reward consecutive actions without being Shutdowned.
Red Flame Streak
- Trigger: 2 consecutive scoring actions
- Bonus: +1 extra point per action
- Ends when you are Shutdowned
Purple Flame Streak
- Trigger: 5 consecutive scoring actions
- Bonus: +2 extra points per action
- Ends when you are Shutdowned
Losing Points
No points are lost in this mode. Only streaks can reset.
Tips for Success
- Build streaks: Avoid unnecessary risks that could break your streak.
- Watch for trails: Protect your own trail; a Shutdown ends momentum immediately.
- Control high-traffic areas: More encounters mean more opportunities for Shutdowns and Dunks.
Cash Grab
Objective
Collect as much cash as possible before the timer expires.
The player with the highest total cash wins.
Players can collect cash by driving over stacks or by capturing the turf around them.
How to Earn Cash
Normal Cash Stack
- Worth: 1 point
- Spawns: 8 stacks every 10 seconds
Big Cash Stack
- Worth: 10 points
- Spawns: Every 30 seconds, always in the center of the arena
Losing Cash
- If you are Shutdowned, you lose 50% of your current cash.
Tips for Success
- Prioritize big stacks: Control the center as the big cash spawns there.
- Avoid Shutdowns: Losing half your cash is costly - stay aware of threats.
- Route planning: Collect normal stacks efficiently before rotating to high-value zones.
- Risk assessment: Big stacks attract players; make sure the area is safe before committing.
Flag Control
Objective
Control as many flags as possible before the timer ends.
Each flag under your control is worth 1 point. The player with the most flags wins.
Capturing Flags
- Flags spawn in varying locations and quantities.
- Capture the turf surrounding a flag to claim it.
- A flag remains yours until an opponent captures the turf around it.
Losing Flags
- If an opponent captures the turf around one of your flags, control shifts to them.
- Defending key positions is essential.
Tips for Success
- Stay mobile: Move between flags instead of camping.
- Plan ahead: You don’t need early dominance - what matters is holding the most when the timer ends.
- Positioning: Prioritize flags that are harder for opponents to quickly reclaim.
